Llandrindrod Wells and Just People
Running Just People at New Life Church, Llandrindod Wells resulted in the reaction; 'The penny really dropped'
New Life Church is an Assemblies of God Church in Powys. It is a small church which has seen considerable growth in the last few years. The husband and wife co-pastors, Tim and Angela Price are excited about what has been happening in the church and are currently knocking down the back wall to extend the space that they have so that they can accommodate more people!
They ran Just People in their four adult house groups, their youth house group, and they even adapted it to run it in their junior church group. They found it to be a brilliant resource for their church. It really helped the church members to be more outward-looking. It also challenged the thinking in the church membership.
Angela Price says, “In previous generations it was always felt that church and politics don’t mix. The Just People course calls us to position ourselves at the heart of the community which means we should be at the heart of local policy, as well as being a strong influential voice to fight for justice.
“Just People brought real ‘joined up’ thinking in vision – it showed us the gospel in its fullness. There should be no divide between the spiritual and the practical – we should be the hands and feet of Jesus. The penny really dropped - faith without works is dead.”
The penny really dropped – faith without works is dead – you need both
together.
New Life church has numerous outreach initiatives which are aiming to address the needs of the community. These range from working with a group of people fighting drug and alcohol addition to helping provide space and resources for single mothers. Just People was very relevant for New Life Church as they strive to get plugged in further to the community and really envision all those who are joining their church family.
