Tearfund

Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency working with a global network of local churches to help eradicate poverty. We are passionate about igniting the global church for integral mission – whether that’s working alongside our partners in the poorest countries of the world, or back home in the UK.

Our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.  The local church is central to who we are and what we do, not just overseas, but here at home too.  The Bible asks Christians to 'act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God,' (Micah 6:8).  So part of being a Christian is standing up against the injustice of poverty - the grinding reality for so many people around the world today.

Over the next 3 years the IMPACT UK Team will contribute to Tearfund’s vision by releasing people from material and spiritual poverty in the UK. This will be achieved through igniting, mobilising, accompanying and resourcing local churches to empower individuals and communities experiencing material and spiritual poverty to overcome barriers, access opportunities and ultimately transform their lives. Our Discovery and Accompaniment Programmes will provide the foundational mechanisms for delivering our objectives; and our work with others through the Community Mission partnership and beyond will provide us with opportunities to extend support and resources to more churches, projects and Christian organisations.
